It’s summertime and the feeling is in the air! Baseball is in full swing and the flowers are at bloom again. What a wonderful opportunity to enjoy some family friendly events hosted by the NIU Alumni Association.
This summer our first stop is at the Morton Arboretum in Lisle, IL. We will start our Saturday morning taking in the beauty of the horticultural gems as we ride in the Acorn Express Narrated Train Tour. You’ll enjoy trees, plants and beautiful flowers, each with a distinct fragrance and theme from around the world. Following the tour, we will enjoy a full lunch reception with an all day access pass to explore the horticultural gems The Arboretum has to offer!

If outdoors is not your style, be sure to attend the Free NIU Back to School Family Night at Costco in St. Charles on Wednesday, July 28. You won’t want to miss this opportunity to do your back to school shopping while chatting with fellow NIU alumni.
It’s a night of special discounts and fun activities, including special raffles and prizes for NIU alumni and friends from 95.9 The River. Kids will enjoy games and face painting while everyone will enjoy the plentiful appetizer buffet supplied by Costco’s premium vendors.

Here's your chance to show your Huskie pride! Show us how much NIU means to you by submitting a photo of yourself, your family and your friends proudly wearing your best red and black. Get creative and paint your face, pose on campus or shoot for the biggest group photo - whatever it takes to show you have the most Huskie Pride.
The winner of the contest will receive a mini-plan of season tickets to the 2010 football season. That's a free ticket to any three home games this year! The winner will also receive a football autographed by NIU Football Coach Jerry Kill.
The deadline for photo submissions is noon on July 5, 2010. Contest finalists will be chosen by the NIU Alumni Association staff. Fans can vote for their favorite finalist beginning July 12.
